Avoid like the plague.
Took my levo turbo in to check out as it was not changing modes. This was the only problem, and rode all morning sunday. I was told a thorough diagnostic check was done and it needed a new motor £700. Was very suspicious as the motor had been rebuilt in May this year and had been fine the day before and not the reason I took the bike in.
Did not trust them. Picked up the bike and took it to a non franchise independent mechanic. Long story short without the diagnostic equipment and good old common sense a £28 cable from the TCU to motor fixed the issue. This is the third time I have had a bad experience in there. Previously bought a bike, used a few times for parts never good. Try to support local shop....never again and felt this time I need to warn others.
Avoid them
Feedback from Greg's reply below to clarify.
The motor was indeed rebuilt by a well known reputable company that rebuilds all the main manufacturers motors when they are out of warranty. I electively did this when I rebuilt my bike as it was out of warranty anyway, it was done to protect the longevity of the motor and upgrade the early gen 2 belt and needle bearings which have shown to fail on early gen 2 motors. Check the company out on Google the "e-bike motor centre" hopefully this will help future readers of this and avoid you being sold a new motor you don't need. The rebuild is half the cost of a new motor, you also get warranty from them, they have excellent reviews and I phoned them today explained my issue and they immediately stated that would not be a motor issue. However for peace of mind if needed they would check it free of charge...now that's customer service Greg!
The motor has been fine since rebuild (May 23), with no issues and no issues now. Remember this was not the reason I brought my bike to you in the first place. The obvious response would have been "sorry got this wrong" which most people or businesses reading a review such as this would do, but no lack of customer care continues. When a bike is out of warranty if I choose to insert a chip for off road use that is my choice. As you know very well Greg it does not effect the motor. The UK (road) limit is 15.5mph, in the USA the motor speed is 20mph, with class 3 e-bikes able to do 28mph. The chip does not enable you to go massively faster due to the gearing of the bike, it makes it ride more like a normal bike with free running feeling. The chip is plug and play and was removed prior to me bringing it in the store and has no lasting effect, traceability to any electrical components so would not effect the diagnostic process this is a fact and please Google these to see.
I believe the motor had not been removed from my bike due to the obvious debris which was sitting on top, the independent mechanic commented on this suggesting not a chance it had been removed. I watched him take it out debris fell off when removed that was just sat on top of the motor. Also easy to spot mud in bolt holes after I collected the bike from your shop, also commented on by the other mechanic. You can attach wires externally to the TCU and a new engine so it appeared you probably retro fitted my TCU with the new motor off the bike as the HMI cable that is routed through the frame would not have enough reach to connect to another motor outside of the frame. This I suspect was the case and hence your wording "the only time we could get the bike to function correctly was when a new motor was plugged in" not fitted then Greg?
Plain for all readers here, that despite having a chance to apologise stating "not up to an expecting specialized dealer customer care, you ignore the chance to do this. Yes I did not choose to take your advice, which was to fit a motor I did not need saving me £700.
My advice stands to other potential customers is Avoid Hot pursuit cycles, there are other better bike shops with better customer care and mechanics which will save you time and money.

Excellent customer service and support in answer to the latest Shimano crank debacle. Completely free recall inspection done on my three bikes in 24 hours.
Only one of the three was purchased at Hot Pursuit, but they happily did all three and were very supportive at a time of inconvenience to them, and all bike dealers.
It takes time to remove crank sets inspect, photograph and re-assemble, so well done Hot Pursuit of Kingsteignton. A well deserved thank you.👍

Hot Pursuit cycles really came to the rescue today. Last minute on a Saturday they managed to fit me in for a rear tyre tubeless set up, before a bike event I have Sunday morning. Great service. Thanks guys

Excellent service from hot pursuit. Holidaying in the area and had gear cable fail on a borrowed bike. They fitted us in at short notice and we were back up and running in no time. Very reasonably priced and all staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Really nice shop with some great kit. Bought a few other bits and bobs. Highly recommended

Went in with my recently purchased, from marketplace, 2017 Commencal Meta enduro bike. I needed the forks serviced.
They went above and beyond to sort them out with very little information online. They seem to be working fine now.
Would recommend them to anyone now. Tis a big shame the Totnes shop closed down though.

Had fabulous experience at this shop. Staff very knowledgeable and helpful. I signed up for the cycle to work scheme and they were very supportive whilst I was waiting for the certificate to come through. So glad I bought my e bike from here.

Chain broke on my EMTB a day before going on holiday, took my bike to Hot Pursuit and asked if there was any way they could sort it on the day knowing they were prob extremely busy, wasn't a problem and was sorted in couple of hours! Excellent and friendly service!

Started a ride, just round the corner from the shop - had a problem with my rear derailleur cable. They got me straight in and replaced the cable and I was back on the road in 15 mins. Amazing service 👍

I sent photos of part needed. What arrived was wrong and second hand ! At first it was denied. Then they said " it might have come out of the same draw as the new ones. We would never send you a part that was unsafe. Oh and its really hard to id a part from a photo "
Thing is I gave them the bike model number because they were the dealer recommended by the manufacturer.
Shambolic and no offer of refund. Wow. They said I could pop in with wheel so they vould see what was needed. Hummm I dont drive and I cant use my bike because....I need a replacment part. Dear liza dear liza.
Moral of story: Dont buy a Tern. Aftersales support and replacement parts are non existant.

Went to the Kingsteignton shop today to pick up my wheels after having a tubeless system fitted. I asked where my tubes were and was told they aren't there. So I asked the chap if he could find them and he repeated himself, which seemed to go down like a dog poo sandwich. Not willing to give up I asked if they had been throw away? He said "I suppose so. Needless to say I left without my tubes, which were going to be my back up in the event of a ripped tyre.
This shop seems to have a lot good reviews, shame it has been marred by one uncooperative member of staff.
Unfortunately not only did they discard my tubes an dismiss me in the shop, but my tubeless set up on the front wheel went flat overnight before I got a chance to use the bike. Really disappointed, I guess you have to go back to the old adage, "if you want something doing right, do it yourself".
